Participation Terms in the Naoussa International Film Festival

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE
7th NAOUSSA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL


Article 1
The Naoussa International Short Film and Video Festival is held in Naoussa every year and is organized by the Civil Company Naoussa International Film Festival. The Festival adopts the digital technology, thus giving the young creators from all over the world the chance to promote their work in a high-level competitive festival. The 7th Festival will be held from 6 to 9 May 2010.

Article 2
Participation in the Festival:

  • Each director has the right to participate with more than one film.
  • The film must belong to one of the categories below:

-fiction
-experimental (video art, etc.)
-animation

  • The subject of the films depends on the judgment and the inspiration of the creators. Also, there are no restrictions as to the shooting of the film.
  • Please send your film in a DVD (PAL) for the process of selection.
  • In case your film will be selected you should send to Naoussa International Film Festival a projection copy in HDCAM or DVCPRO or DVCAM or miniDV or BETA format.
  • The film must have been completed 18 months maximum before the date of the Festival.
  • The total duration of the film cannot exceed the twenty five (25') minutes.

• Especially for the films belonging in the Experimental category the total duration cannot exceed the ten (10') minutes.

 

Article 3
The selection of the projected films, their order of projection, and the program are defined by the Organizing Committee of the Festival, which, according to the technical peculiarities, the duration and the grouping of the films in categories, organizes the whole program with its own responsibility. 

Article 4
In order to participate in the Festival one should fill in the application form that he or she may find in the website of the festival. After the applicant has filled in the electronic application form he or she must print it, sign it and send it along with the film until the 31st January 2010 to the address:

With the indication: "No commercial value, only for cultural reasons"

Note that it is necessary to fill in all the fields and to sign the participation form in order for it to be examined.

Along with the participation form one should send:

 -The film in its original format with English subtitles (except the films that their dialogues are in the English language)
 - A DVD for the selection process
 -Stills from the film (in electronic form*)
 -Photos of the creator and the protagonists (in electronic form*)
 -Promoting material of the film (optionally)

The mailing expenses burden the creators.

Since the participation form and the film have been deposited, for no reason does the director or the produce have the right to withdraw them.

Article 5
The Organising Committee of the Festival in collaboration with the artistic Director make the selection of the judging committees. The judging committees are consisted of recognized personalities from either the Greek or the international world of cinema. The Director of the Festival has the right to participate in one or all the judging committees. The decisions of the committees are made in plain majority.
Finally, in the frames of the innovations of the Festival there is the creation of a judging committee which consists of young people of Naoussa who give the "Naoussa" award.

Article 6
In the framework of the competitive character of the Festival, the following awards are being given:

Best Short Film
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
2nd Best Short Film
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
3rd Best Short Film
(Participation of the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Greek Short Film
(Participation of all the Greek films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Director Award
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Experimental Film
(Participation of all the experimental films)
Best Animation
(Participation of all the films that belong to the animation category)
Best Acting
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Photography
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Editing
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Script
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
Best Film of 1st Appearance
(Participation of all the films of 1st Projection that belong to the fiction category)
"Naoussa" Award
(Participation of all the films)
People's Choice Award
(Participation of all the films that belong to the fiction category)
People's Choice Award Experimental Category
(Participation of all the films that belong to the experimental category)
People's Choice Award Animation Category
(Participation of all the films that belong to the animation category)

Any distinction is attributed to the corresponding factor of the film.

Naoussa International Film Festival reserves the right to change the award categories at any time and without any previous notification.

In case a film is awarded in the Festival, Naoussa International Film Festival wishes that the type and the year of distinction would be inscribed above the titles of beginning.

Article 7
The creators must avoid any public projections of the participating films in the town of Naoussa before their official projection in the Festival.

Article 8
Naoussa International Film Festival company is not responsible for any loss of material before or after the Festival and under no circumstances is it obliged to return the material that has been sent to it.

Article 9
Naoussa International Film Festival company reserves the right to project part of the films that have been sent, in and out of the area of the Festival, whenever it is needed for reasons of promotion of the Festival and under no circumstances for commercial causes.

Article 10
The audiovisual coverage of the Festival and of the parallel events is taken on by the communication sponsors. Consequently, the use of any recording device by third parties in the area of the Festival is strictly forbidden.

Article 11
Parts of the Festival will be filmed. Members of the audience and participants that may appear in these parts cannot claim anything from the organising company.

Article 12
The participants accept and agree to give interviews to the communication sponsors and to be photographed if asked.

Article 13
Naoussa International Film Festival reserves the right to cancel the Festival if it is necessary.

Article 14
In case of dispute, the Greek version of the terms of participation is considered as valid.

Article 15
The dispatch of the signed participation form entails the complete and unconditional acceptance of the above terms of participation.
